APAR status

Error description

  • lpsched stopping to work randomly. No entries in errpt.
lpsched log file shows the stopping lpsched, but shows no
error:
Sat Aug  1 18:25:01 2009: UX:lpsched: INFO: The network
process has terminated.
Sat Aug  1 18:25:01 2009: UX:lpsched: INFO:
Print services stopped.
Sat Aug  1 18:25:10 2009: UX:lpsched: INFO:
Print services started.

Users then can no longer print until they restart
the scheduler.

Local fix

  • restart the scheduler

Problem summary

  • recvmsg() will not block waiting for data when only control
information is requested and when it precedes a sendmsg.

Problem conclusion

  • Appropriate code changes made to make the recvmsg() call block
