APAR status

Error description

  • getgrent_r causes memory corruption resulting in SIGSEGV
when invoked by multiple threads simultaneously.

Local fix

  • A local fix is to serialize all access to getgrent_r().

Problem summary

* bos.rte,libc fileset below the 6.1.1.10 level.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
* Applications that make multiple simultaneous calls to
* getgrent_r() may crash with SIGSEGV.

* RECOMMENDATION:
* Install APAR IZ75408.

Problem conclusion

  • The local static that was still being used in the threaded
code path, has been completely removed from the threaded code
path.
