Error description

  • smitty panel can't configure IPv6 address if there is ipv6
alias address already configured.
"smitty chinet6" command will cause the  smitty panel fileds
filled with garbage value.
The reason is that lsdev command (e.g "lsdev -El en0 -O") will
use ":" as separator for each field. And IPv6 alias address
always uses ":" to represent its address based on the
definition.  Smitty panel can't distinguish between whether
this ":" is a real ipv6 address notation,
or a separator notation.

Problem conclusion


    

  • Before passing the lsdev command output to smitty panel,
we should replace the ":" notation of IPv6 address part to
"#!:" so that smitty panel can parse each field correctly.
