APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • This is not a real defect.
Currently When netmalloc error checklevel is set to 5 or above,
OSTD is turned on, which will use a fixed size 11 hash size
bucket. If a machine has a lot of cpus and with heavy load,
and OSTD is turned on, it will have performance impact.
We are enhancing it by setting ostd hash bucket size based
on the number of cpus running on the box at boot time.

Problem conclusion

  • At boot time, we set ostd hash bucket size to be
max(11, number_of_cpu_running), of which 11 is the old
    default value.
