APAR status

Error description

  • The fix for IV27525 to allow audit to start when an
object
file path doesn't exists only works when the impacted
object is the last one listed in
/etc/security/audit/objects
If this is not the last one, audit start will still fail
with :
** failed setting kernel audit objects

Local fix

  • Make sure that the parent directory exists for every
object
configured in /etc/security/audit/objects

Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED:
* Systems running the 7100-02 Technology Level with the
* bos.rte.security fileset at the 7.1.2.15 or 7.1.2.16 level.
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
* The fix for IV27525 to allow audit to start when an object
* file path doesn't exists only works when the impacted object
* is the last one listed in /etc/security/audit/objects.
* If this is not the last one, audit start will still fail
* with :

* RECOMMENDATION:
* Install APAR IV49789.

Problem conclusion

  • Necessary code changes are done to start the auditing even if
parent directory of the specified file in
/etc/security/audit/objects file.
