Error description

  • When an application continuously calls into
    pam_authenticate with explicit conv routine
    being called to prompt, the operating system
    will eventually kill the process because
    memory becomes exhausted. This is
    because PAM libpam.a is not releasing
    allocated memory.

  • Application which calls pam_authenticate function in loop

Problem conclusion

  • The crash is due to a memory leak in pam_authenticate function,
    the memory leak has been resolved using this.
