Error description
using the following scenario : mkdir source target cd source touch file1 echo "file1" > input /usr/sysv/bin/cpio -pdvuml ../target < input up to that point every thing is alright file1 on target is an hardlink of file1 on source run the cpio a second time : /usr/sysv/bin/cpio -pdvuml ../target < input a temporary file is left in ../target : ls -ail ../target : 36897 -rw-r--r-- 7 root system 0 May 24 07:47 file1 36897 -rw-r--r-- 7 root system 0 May 24 07:47 v-alaa The temporary file v-alaa should have be removed.
Local fix
The aix cpio command in /usr/bin/cpio doesn't exhibit the problem. If sysv cpio is absolutely required, user might remove files on target before running the sysv/cpio
Problem summary
On target which already has hardlink of source file, Running "/usr/sysv/bin/cpio -pdvuml " command second time is leaving temporary file.
Problem conclusion
Deleting Temporary files.
