Using commands like autoconf6 chdev or mkiba or smitty to configure IPv6 addresses will fail in systems with InfiniBand QDR adapters. Complains from duplicate address detection or that the network is down are examples of this failures.
Problem conclusion
The solution is the modification of the ifconfig.ib command and the autoconf6 to handle situations where the InfiniBand QDR ports are still training with the line. In other words, wait for the ports to be UP.
