Error description

  • It happened, but not limited, to the C++ application that
the
runtime linking failed to bind the BSS symbol exported
from
the main program.  Therefor, the reference to the BSS
symbol
from other routines would result as NULL.

Problem summary


    

  • The runtime linker fails to rebind BSS symbols (non-initialized
variables) exported from a 64-bit main program if an
initialized definition is exported from a shared library

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Exported BSS symbols in a 64-bit main program are eligible
to be rebound when runtime linking is used.
