Error description

  • The gsclvmd daemon may core dump due to stack corruption
    while
processing an extend/reduce request of a logical volume
    belonging
to a scalable volume group when the logical volume is
    mapped to
    more than 128 disks.

Error log from the core dump shows incomplete stack due
    to stack corruption:

Local fix

  • Logical volumes should be mapped to less than 128 disks.

Problem summary

  • gsclvmd daemon code to handle extending an LV does not
correctly handle when an LV is mapped to more than 128 disks.
In this case, process stack is messed up and various results
can happen, most likely core dump of gsclvmd daemon.

Problem conclusion

  • Allocate enough space in gsclvmd for it to handle LVs on more
    than 128 disks.
