APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Since IZ77870, internal message for packing error due
to incorrect size is incorrect.
It has an extra space in the middle of "occur red" like :
An internal packing error occur red: incorrect size
While the cataloged message is correct :
backup: 0511-084 An internal packing error occurred:
incorrect size

Local fix

  • export LANG=en_US before running backup/mksysb/savevg

Problem summary

  • BACKBYNAME INTERNAL MESSAGE FOR PACKING ERROR IS INCORRECT.

Problem conclusion

  • Corrected the internal message by removing hte extra space.
