Product Documentation

Abstract

This document provides instructions for installing IBM Security Identity Governance and Intelligence V5.2.5 on OpenStack for KVM.

Content

IBM Security Identity Governance and Intelligence V5.2.5 can be installed on the OpenStack cloud operating system. Support is limited to OpenStack with KVM as a hypervisor.
The .iso file for the installation is available in Passport Advantage. The name of the eAssembly is 'IBM Security Identity Governance Compliance  v5.2.5 Virtual Appliance for KVM on OpenStack'.
Follow these steps to install the virtual appliance:
  1. Upload the IGI .iso file to create the installation image. Go to the image panel and select Create image. Provide a suitable image name and browse to select the .iso file that is present in the SEC_IDNTY_GVN_INTL_xxx_V5.2.5_OPS.zip file. Enter other values like minimum RAM and minimum disk space according to the recommended values.
  2. Launch an instance using the image that you created. Select boot source as image and select the created image. Select Create new volume as No. Select an appropriate flavor and network and other details. Wait for the instance to launch.
  3. Open the volumes panel and create a new volume. Select Volume Source as No source, empty volume and provide the recommended size of the volume. Wait for the volume to get created.
  4. After the volume is created, from the Volume drop-down options select Manage Attachments. In Attach to instance, select the instance that you created in step 2. Wait for the attachment to complete.
  5. Go to the instance console and wait for the installer to come up. Select the language option and install the Virtual Appliance.
  6. After the installation completes and the 'Unmount the installation media. Then press the enter key to reboot the appliance' message is displayed, select Shut off from the instance drop-down options to shut off the instance. Wait for the instance to be powered off.
  7. In the volume panel, edit the volume and make it bootable.
  8. From the Volume drop-down options, select Manage Attachment and detach the volume from the instance.
  9. From the Volume drop-down options, select Launch as instance. Select Boot source volume and select the current volume. Select Delete volume on instance Delete as No. Configure other options, like flavor and network options, and launch the instance.
  10. Go to the instance console and wait for the Virtual Appliance bootup process to complete.
  11. Take note of the IP allocated to the instance. This is for M1. Attach 2 more NIC adapters by selecting the Attach interface option. Make a note of the IP for each interface. The second interface is for M2. The third interface is for P1 (the application interface).
  12. Return to the Virtual Appliance console and complete the first configuration steps. Specify the IP of M1 that you recorded in step 11 with the correct subnet mask and default gateway.
  13. After the first steps are complete, start the Virtual Appliance and continue the configuration steps. To configure the application interface, use the IP of the third NIC adapter as remarked in step 11.
  14. Follow the rest of the instructions as described in Setting up a stand-alone or primary node for IBM Security Identity Governance and Intelligence with the initial configuration wizard to complete the configuration. Note: The documentation erroneously includes steps that are related to configuring Identity Brokerage providers and Directory Server. Ignore these steps. As described in tech note https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10872868, these steps are no longer necessary.
