Release notes for Interim Fix for APAR PH03940 for Transformation Extender

ABOUT THIS INTERIM FIX

This interim fix contains important fixes described in Security Bulletin: A Vulnerability in Apache PDFBox Affects Transformation Extender. This interim fix applies to IBM Transformation Extender V9.0.0.2 and V9.0.0.3 on all supported platforms.

The interim fix for APAR PH03940 contains fixes for Apache PDFBox. It contains no changes to Transformation Extender components.

You must first install Transformation Extender before you install the interim fix. Entitled customers can download Transformation Extender from the Passport Advantage online site. Download the interim fix from Fix Central.

Reinstalling a Transformation Extender product or earlier fix pack after you apply an interim fix can overwrite the elements that are corrected by the interim fix.

INSTALLING THE INTERIM FIX
=====================================================================

This section describes the steps to install the fix on all applicable platforms.

• The user ID that installs the interim fix must have sufficient authority to modify the Transformation Extender installation.
• The instructions refer generically to the interim fix archive file as the archive file.
• The install_dir is the directory where Transformation Extender is installed.

1. Stop all processes that use the Transformation Extender runtime environment.

2. Create a backup copy of the existing install_dir/jars/com.ibm.itx.dtx.m4pdf folder.

3. Create a working directory. Transfer the archive file as a binary file to the directory. Extract the archive file.

4. Replace the following installed JAR files in the install_dir/jars/com.ibm.itx.dtx.m4pdf folder with the JAR files extracted from the interim fix archive file:

If you specify these modules in your CLASSPATH environment variable, update the paths to change the JAR file version number  from 2.0.5 to 2.0.11.

Verify the fix by running your own test cases, or run the PDF adapter example installed in the install_dir/examples/adapters/pdf directory.
