Scope of the IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot Prerequisite Checker
The IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot Prerequisite Checker Version 8.1.6 automates checks for the operating system, database instance, and volume group layout on Linux and AIX platforms.

Requirements for running the IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot Prerequisite Checker
The following AIX and Linux operating systems are supported:

• 64-bit AIX 7.1, and later 7.1.x levels
• 64-bit AIX 7.2, and later 7.2.x levels
• 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11, and later 11.x levels
• 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12 up to service pack 2
• 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 15  (only with IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot Prerequisite Checker version 8.1.6.1 an later versions)
• 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 releases 6.1 up to 6.10
• 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 release 7.0 up to 7.6

The Prerequisite Checker does not change the database or the system; it retrieves information from the operating system and database in preparation for installing IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot in an AIX or Linux environment.

Known Limitation for IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot Prerequisite Checker
Non-default storage groups are not included in any checks for DB2.
Specifically, the volume group layout and file system type checks are incomplete, and their results cannot be relied upon if a DB2 database has non-default storage groups.
