IBM Support

Support Policy for Rational ClearQuest on ORACLE RAC servers

Question & Answer

Question

What is the support policy for running IBM Rational ClearQuest on Oracle RAC database servers? Can one enable SCAN support in a RAC environment?

Answer

Oracle RAC support is strictly a function of the capabilities of the DataDirect drivers used by ClearQuest. There is nothing specific to the ClearQuest code that enables support for RAC, it is determined by the DataDirect ODBC drivers.

  • ClearQuest 7.x uses DataDirect database drivers that support Oracle RAC for the Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.

  • ClearQuest 2003.06.16 uses DataDirect database drivers that support Oracle RAC only for the Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • Previous ClearQuest versions do not support RAC at all.

If you require RAC support for Windows, UNIX, and Linux, you must upgrade to the 7.x releases.

Two requests for enhancement (RFE) exist regarding Oracle 11g support of Single Client Access Name (SCAN). That requires support for an Oracle "service name" in the connection string. Support does not currently exist for an Oracle "service name" nor for SCAN; Both features may be desirable in an Oracle RAC configuration.

If you require support for these features, note these two RFEs available for viewing on the RFE Community:
