Problem
This technote explains how to predefine and automate the load rules for clients using IBM® Rational® ClearCase® snapshot view using View Profiles on Microsoft® Windows®.
Resolving The Problem
Load rules are manually defined by the user of the snapshot view.
If you would like to coordinate developers to work in specific VOBs or even specific directories within certain VOBs, you can predefine the load rules for a given view by using a bView Profile so that load rule become hands off for the developers.
By using View Profiles, you can help automate and define the load rules for the developers as follows:
1. Review technote 1248107 for more details about View Profiles and to become familiar with the concepts and setup.
2. When you get to Step 7 of 7 creating the View Profile, you can View the config spec (which for snapshot view contains the load rules). Click View Config Spec
3. Click the Edit button to modify the default config spec generated by the View Profile.
4. You can now edit the config spec
5. Add load rules in modifiable area and click Save and Close
