Question

What is the support policy for the type of integrations that are available between Microsoft® Visual Studio .NET 2005 and IBM® Rational® ClearCase®?

ClearCase & ClearCase LT

ClearCase and ClearCase LT 7.x as well as the ClearCase 2003.06.16 (Service Release 6) installation will automatically detect if Visual Studio .NET 2005 is installed on your system.

If ClearCase detects this software, it will proceed to install the integration software.


Note: VS .NET 2005 is available in several different editions from Microsoft. When attempting the integration between ClearCase and VS .NET 2005, be aware that the supported editions of VS .NET 2005 for this integration are the Standard, Team, and Professional editions of the product.



ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) for 7.x

  1. Connect to a ClearCase 7.x server machine that has the IBM HTTP Server (RWP) installed

    From an internet browser, connect to the url that will get you to the CCRC update folder on that server machine.

    For example, http://<server-name>:<port #>/ccrc/update

  2. Scroll down through the page to find the Visual Studio .NET 2005 integration link

  3. Download the zip file

  4. Extract the file and then run the setup executable


Note: You do not need ClearCase installed on the client machine, but you must have Visual Studio .NET 2005 installed prior to doing this install. It is possible to have both the full ClearCase as well as the CCRC integration for Visual Studio installed in Visual Studio in parallel.




Note: Attempts to create a release area that is meant to install CCRC with the .NET 2005 integration enabled results in the error

Error 1334, The file 'mergemodule.txt....' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'vc_alt70.CAB'.  This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.




Defect APAR PK26377 has been opened regarding this issue.


This defect has been resolved in Rational ClearCase version 7.0.1.



Documentation to configure the Rational Web Platform (RWP)

RWP is required to use CCRC.

Review the ClearCase Administrator's Guide Appendix section for details on how to configure RWP.
