Abstract

This document provides details of the system requirements for IBM eDiscovery Manager Version 2.2 Fix Pack 4.

Server operating systems and hardware (eDiscovery Manager system)

The eDiscovery Manager server requires one of the following operating systems, depending on the hardware platform.

Server: One 2-way server, minimum. One 4-way server, recommended.

RAM: 4 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended.

Requires IBM C Compiler V9.0.0.1 or later fix pack. To determine the version of C runtime libraries that you have, enter this command:

lslpp -l | grep -i xlc

AIX V5.3 TL10 or later (64-bit) Supported on POWER

Server: One 2-way server, minimum. One 4-way server, recommended.

RAM: 4 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended.

Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2 Supported on x86 Supported on x86-64

Server: One server with two or more processors, minimum. One server with four or more processors, recommended.

RAM: 4 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 or R2 Supported on x86 Supported on x86-64

Server: One server with two or more processors, minimum. One server with four or more processors, recommended.

RAM: 4 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended.


Virtualization software

The eDiscovery Manager server is supported in the following virtual machine environments:

  • AIX V6.1 Workload partitions (WPARs): eDiscovery Manager is installed in one instance of the global AIX operating system environment and executed in the System WPAR
  • AIX V6.1 Workload partitions (WPARs): eDiscovery Manager is installed in the System WPAR
  • IBM PowerVM Hypervisor (LPAR, DPAR, Micro-Partition)
  • VMWare ESX Version 4.0
  • VMWare ESX Version 3.5
  • VMWare ESXi Version 3.5

Note: In all virtual machine environments, each runtime instance must be supported by its own independent installation of product files.

eDiscovery Manager's performance might be impacted when running in a virtual environment. This should be taken into account when sizing your virtual environment.


Web application servers (eDiscovery Manager system)

The eDiscovery Manager server requires one of the following Web application servers, depending on the hardware platform.

eDiscovery Manager can be deployed to a Websphere Application Server Network Deployment managed node or unmanaged node.

eDiscovery Manager does not support clustering.

eDiscovery Manager can be deployed to a Websphere Application Server Network Deployment managed node or unmanaged node.

eDiscovery Manager does not support clustering.

Reminder for AIX systems: Set the umask value to 022 before installing WebSphere Application Server and any fix packs. See Preparing AIX systems for installation for more information about verifying and setting the umask value.


Lotus Domino server (eDiscovery Manager system)

If you want to enable your users to export Lotus Notes content or to view content by using Lotus Notes, you must install the Lotus Domino server on the eDiscovery Manager system. eDiscovery Manager requires only the Lotus Domino APIs, but these APIs are bundled with the Lotus Domino server; the APIs are not bundled separately. For this reason, you must install a Lotus Domino server on the eDiscovery Manager system or a logical partition.

IBM Content Manager connector (eDiscovery Manager system)

The eDiscovery Manager server requires one of the following connectors for communicating with the IBM Content Manager EE server.

The eDiscovery Manager server requires one of the following content management servers.

Recommendation: Upgrade to IBM Content Manager EE V8.4.2 Fix Pack 3, which includes the testfix, above.

IBM FileNet P8 V5.1 or later fix pack

Supported with DB2, Oracle*, or Microsoft SQL Server.

(*Support for Oracle databases does not include support for the Oracle Exadata platform.)

One of the following is required:

  • IBM Content Search Services + Interim Fix 5.1.0.0-P8CSS-IF001 and Interim Fix 5.1.0.0-P8CE
  • IBM Legacy Content Search Engine + Interim Fix 5.1.0.0-P8CE

IBM FileNet P8 V5.0 or later fix pack

Supported with DB2, Oracle*, or Microsoft SQL Server.

(*Support for Oracle databases does not include support for the Oracle Exadata platform.)

Lotus Domino server (Remote)

If you want to enable your users to export Lotus Notes content or to view content by using Lotus Notes, you must have a Lotus Domino server that runs remotely from the eDiscovery Manager system.

Tip: The IBM eDiscovery Manager Web client is best viewed with the highest screen resolution possible. At a minimum, the resolution should be 1280x1024.
