eClient connecting to a remote library server freezes on Linux® for System z® LPAR with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 U4 and RHEL 5 UO:

The problem occurs because the incoming packet has an unknown identification in its header.

The kernel patch, which is included in RHEL4.7 and RHEL5.2, addresses this problem.

You can get the patch for the problem: "qeth:discard inbound packets with unknown header ID" from Red Hat before the patch is formally included in a Red Hat release. To get the patch, you must have a Red Hat service contract.
