    This info apar replaces II11180 and II12485. It contains TCP
    maintenance for CSM problems on TCP releases through
    z/OS 1.2 (TCP R120).   See info apar II13951 for later releases.

    maintenance.

    * PARMLIB MEMBER IVTPRM00 should initially be coded at       *
    * 100M MAX ECSA and 100M MAX FIXED.  Monitor system for one  *
    * week with DISPLAY CSM command to determine peak usage.     *
    * Adjust IVTPRM00 MAX ECSA and MAX FIXED values to 1.5 times *
    * the highest value indicated in DISPLAY CSM output.         *
    * NOTE:  When coding IVTPRM00, FIXED MAX and ECSA MAX values *
    *        must start in column one and only one space is      *
    *        allowed between fields.                             *
    * NOTE:  If CSM MAX ECSA is coded higher than 90% of the     *
    *        S/390 allowable ECSA (IEASYS00 ECSA), then          *
    *        CSM MAX ECSA will be adjusted to 90% of S/390 ECSA. *

    *  NOTE 1: You must adjust your IEASYSxx CSA parm to include *
    *  the additional amounts of ECSA that CSM will be using.    *

    * NOTE 3: To dynamically change the ECSA and FIXED CSM values*

    If the maintenance listed in this apar does not resolve
    the problem, the following documentation needs to be obtained:
    1) D net,CSM,OWNERID=ALL to determine how much storage is being
       used and by what job / ASID.
       D net,CSM to identify the CSM dataspace being used.
    2) MODIFY net,TRACE,TYPE=VTAM,
         OPTION=(CSM,CIO,SMS,PSS,PIU,MSG,SSCP,API,NRM,XBUF,APPC)
       (If OS390R7 or higher, add CIA to the above VIT options.)
       NOTE:  Do the following if using 8K VIT buffering:
              -Specify BFRNUM to 10.
              -Apply OW32783 to resolve a problem where CSM VIT
               entries were written seperately from 8K buffers.
              -Ensure you only specify FE1,FEF,FF1 GTF options.
              -Ensure large enough BLOCKSIZE is specified for GTF
                (IEFRDER DD BLKSIZE defined to at least 8K-details
                in OW26052).
       If running OS390V2R5 or higher you can run the VIT to
       dataspace rather than externally to GTF:
       MODIFY net,TRACE,TYPE=VTAM,
       OPTION=(CSM,CIO,SMS,PSS,PIU,MSG,SSCP,API,NRM,XBUF,APPC),
       DSPSIZE=5,SIZE=999
       (If OS390R7 or higher, add CIA to above options.)
       APAR OW36936 addresses a problem with the formatting of
       the dataspace VIT.
    3)  If the DISPLAY CSM output indicates TCP/IP owns the
        storage:
     a) Update CTIEZB00 member in parmlib to specify BUFSIZE(16M).
        This will provide a 16M CTRACE buffer.  TCP/IP must be
        recycled after this change.
     b) Bring up TCP/IP and issue:
        - TRACE CT,ON,COMP=SYSTCPIP,SUB=(TCPIP)
        - R xx,options=(STORAGE,VTAM,VTAMDATA,MESSAGE,INTERNET,TCP),
               END
    4) Dump VTAM and TCP/IP
      DUMP COMM=(csm storage growth)
      R xx,JOBNAME=(net,tcpip),SDATA=(SQA,LSQA,CSA,RGN,TRT,NUC),CONT
      R xx,DSPNAME=('net'.ISTITDS1,'tcpip'.*),END
    5) If the DISPLAY CSM output indicates the CSM storage growth
       is in one of the CSM dataspace pools, dump the CSM
       dataspace(s) in the above dump of VTAM and TCP.
       To dump CSM dataspace, use the DSPNAME parameter on the
       dump command.  For releases prior to z/OS 1.2, it should be
       DSPNAME=(1.*CSM), for z/OS 1.2 or later, it should be
       DSPNAME=(1.CSM*).
       To dump the CSM dataspaces and the other dataspaces
       listed in step 4 the DSPNAME parameter for z/OS 1.2 and
       later would be:
       DSPNAME=('net'.ISTITDS1,'tcpipprocname'.*,1.CSM*)

    FYI - TCP/IP will cache unused SKMB / SKDB (Message Triples)
    and associated CSM storage for 4 minutes.  After 4 minutes,
    if the storage has not referenced, the storage will be freed.
