Error description

  • This APAR adds a retry mechanism to the Resequence node in IBM
Integration Bus of 'failure'. With this new retry mechanism
enabled, if a message fails to propagate to the 'out' terminal
and the 'catch' terminal, the message is sent to the 'failure'
terminal. Subsequent messages in the sequence are not
propagated until that message is received again and propagated.

    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM Integration Bus v9.0 that use a Resequence
    node.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If the Resequence node fails to propagate a message to the 'out'
and the 'catch' terminal, the only retry mechanism it has is to
try the 'out' terminals again. This effectively means a failing
sequence of messages will be held in the node until the problem
downstream is fixed and the Resequence node will keep retrying
    indefinitely.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

Problem conclusion

  • The product adds a retry mechanism of 'failure' to the
Resequence node. With this new retry mechanism enabled, if a
message fails to propagate to the 'out' terminal and the 'catch'
terminal, the message is sent to the 'failure' terminal.
Subsequent messages in the sequence are not propagated until a
message with the same sequence number as the failing message is
    received again and propagated.
