Question & Answer

Question

How do I install IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 on WebSphere Application Server 8.0, 8.5, or 8.5.5?

Answer

Before you install IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 on IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.0, 8.5, or 8.5.5, you must first copy some files from the appropriate Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 fix pack installation package to the IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 installation package.

For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2 (64-bit) and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Enterprise (64-bit) only: If IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM Content Manager are installed in the Program Files (x86) directory, you must install IBM Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 in the IBM\Java50 directory.

  1. On the server on which WebSphere Application Server is installed, create an environment variable with the name WAS_PROFILE_ROOT. For the value of the variable, specify the path to the WebSphere Application Server profile directory. For example, specify C:\PROGRA~2\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01.
  2. Edit the %WAS_PROFILE_ROOT%\properties\sas.client.props file.
    • For the com.ibm.CORBA.loginSource property, change the value from prompt to properties.
    • For the com.ibm.CORBA.loginUserid and com.ibm.CORBA.loginPasswordSet properties, specify the IBM WebSphere Application Server administrator user ID and password.
  3. Copy the IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 installation package to the server on which WebSphere Application Server is installed and on which you plan to install IBM Content Manager Records Enabler.
  4. Download the appropriate Content Manager Records Enabler fix pack, copy the fix pack installation package to the server on which you plan to install IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5, and extract the files.
    • For WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5, download Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 Fix Pack 7.
    • For WebSphere Application Server 8.0 or 8.5, download Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 Fix Pack 6 or later.
  5. Copy the following files and directory from the fix pack installation package to the RME85 directory of the IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 installation package. Select the option to replace existing files.
    • All files in the cmreupdt85\85_GA_patch_files\WAS8 directory
    • The entire _jvm directory
  6. Run the RME85\rmeinstall.bat or RME85\rmeinstall.sh file to start the IBM Content Manager Records Enabler V8.5 installation program.
  7. Run the fix pack installation program.

If you want to upgrade an existing IBM Content Manager Records Enabler installation to WebSphere Application Server 8.0, 8.5, or 8.5.5, first upgrade Content Manager Records Enabler to the appropriate fix pack level and then upgrade WebSphere Application Server.

If you already upgraded WebSphere Application Server to version 8.0, 8.5, or 8.5.5 before you installed the Content Manager Records Enabler fix pack, you must set the WAS_PROFILE_ROOT environment variable and edit the sas.client.props file before you install the fix pack.
