Question & Answer
Question
Which combinations of operating systems and database servers are supported when the IBM Records Manager database is co-located with the IBM DB2 Content Manager library server database?
Answer
When the IBM Records Manager database is co-located with the IBM DB2 Content Manager library server database, in addition to the combinations of operating systems and database servers that IBM Records Manager supports, the following combinations of operating systems and database servers for the IBM DB2 Content Manager library server database are also supported.
Operating system | Database server |
Solaris 9/10 64-bit (SPARC) | DB2 V8.2/V9.1/V9.5 64-bit |
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES/WS 4.0/5.0 32-bit | DB2 V8.2/V9.1/V9.5 32-bit |
Oracle 10g | |
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES/WS 4.0/5.0 64-bit | DB2 V8.2/V9.1/V9.5 64-bit |
Oracle 10g | |
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9/10 32-bit (x86 only) | DB2 V8.2/V9.1/V9.5 32-bit |
Oracle 10g | |
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9/10 64-bit (x86-64 only) | DB2 V8.2/V9.1/V9.5 64-bit |
Oracle 10g |
Because the operating systems that are listed in the previous table are not supported by IBM Records Manager, you must install a DB2 or Oracle client on a Windows computer and then run the IBM Records Manager database installation program from the Windows computer to install or upgrade the IBM Records Manager database on the remote library server computer.
For DB2 databases:
- Before you install or upgrade the IBM Records Manager database, catalog the instance of the remote library server database as a DB2 node and catalog the library server database.
- When you run the IBM Records Manager database installation program, specify the node and database alias of the remote library server database. The IBM Records Manager database instance owner and schema owner must be users on the remote library server computer.
For Oracle databases:
- Before you install or upgrade the IBM Records Manager database, create a TNS alias of the remote library server database on the Windows computer.
- When you run the IBM Records Manager database installation program, specify the TNS alias of the remote library server database. The IBM Records Manager database instance owner and schema owner must be users on the remote library server computer.
