Problem
MustGather documents aid in problem determination and save time resolving Problem Management Records (PMRs). This article specifically aids in Directory Server (SDS/TDS) problems related to starting the LDAP server.
Resolving The Problem
Must Gather information based on Directory Server version for Startup issues:
For all versions of SDS/TDS the basic items we need to begin diagnosing any startup issues are as follows:
- We need to understand if this issue is occuring with a new install, a migrated instance or in an existing environment?
- Were there any changes made recently to the environment (DB2/SDS/OS fixpack upgrade)?
- We need to review the log and configuration files to identify potential issues with a failed server startup. The most important files to collect are the ibmslapd.log, db2cli.log and the ibmslapd.conf file.
- If the log and configuration files do not yield enough information we will need to collect an ascii server trace and possibly a binary server trace.
