Prerequisites

1) Installer: X Windows® server software

The WebSphere InterChange Server installation program must run in a Windows-enabled environment (such as CDE). If a Windows client is used to run the installation program, X Windows display server software (such as Hummingbird or Reflection X) must be available on the Windows client system.

2) Web-based System Monitor: Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0 browser plug-in is required for displaying graphical charts.

3) WebSphere InterChange Server Access for Enterprise JavaBeans requires any version of WebSphere Application Server that supports Enterprise JavaBeans 1.1.

4) WebSphere InterChange Server Access for Java EE Connector Architecture requires any version of WebSphere Application Server that supports Java EE Connector Architecture 1.0.

5) WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework 2.6 is required for adapter connectivity.

6) IBM 32-bit Software Development Kit (SDK) for Solaris 1.4.2.04 Java compiler is required for compiling customer-generated maps and collaborations.

7) A Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) V3-compliant directory service is optional for external authentication of user access.

8) Tivoli License Manager 2.1 is optional for monitoring software asset inventory and usage.

Even though IBM continues to expand the testing of current and new configurations, it is not practical to test every combination of products that you might want to configure. IBM supports minor upgrades to operating systems, databases, and third-party software. Major upgrades are tested during fix pack releases only.

1) WebSphere InterChange Server is a 32-bit application. For Solaris SPARC, WebSphere InterChange Server has been tested as a 32-bit application on 64-bit systems that are booted with a 64-bit kernel; however, 64-bit mode is not exploited.

2) When using DB2 64 bit client (DB2 v9.x ) you need to boot WebSphere InterChange Server from the 64-bit Kernal but use the 32-bit libraries. Refer : Using WebSphere Interchange Server 4.3.0.6 with DB2 v9.x

3) IBM 32-bit SDK for Solaris 1.4.2.04 and WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework 2.6 are included with the product.

4) WebSphere MQSeries Client and Server 5.3.0.2 are included with the product.

5) DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition 8.1 is included with the product.

6) WebSphere Business Integration Adapters are included with the product. See WebSphere Business Integration Adapters Software Requirements.

7) WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations. The WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations, announced in December 2003, support WebSphere InterChange Server V4.3. For information, refer to Software Announcement 203-329, dated 9 December 2003 (WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations Restructuring).

8) High-availability (HA) environments. Scripts that assist with configuring WebSphere InterChange Server in HA environments are available as unsupported Category 2 SupportPacs at the following location:
http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/category.html. General software requirements for HA environments are also documented in the SupportPacs.

9) For better performance, install the database server on a system that is separate from the system where WebSphere InterChange Server is installed. If this configuration is used, the database server can be run on any platform that is supported by DB2 for the particular version. Also, ensure that the corresponding DB2 client is installed locally on the server.

10) Tomcat is not supported in double-byte character set (DBCS) environments.
