ACSLS worksheet for setting up Oracle ACSLS drives for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

This document provides general information for ACSLS and a worksheet that a customer can use to record ACS drive IDs for setting up ACSLS drives for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server.

Content

The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server supports any version of the ACSLS server that is supported by Oracle. Some restrictions or limitations may apply. For information regarding ACSLS device configuration, restrictions, and limitations, see the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide and Administrator's Reference, which can be found in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager information center, and ACSLS Technotes.

For information about setting up a library for the ACSLS server, refer to the ACSLS installation documentation from Oracle.

See "Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or "Supported Devices for Linux" for supported ACSLS drives and libraries.

Supported platforms

ACSLS libraries are supported on platforms and operating system versions that are supported by the Tivoli Storage Manager server and Oracle ACSLS Manager Software. ACSLS libraries are not supported on the following operating system versions:

  • Windows Server 2008 x86

ACS Drive ID consists of four numeric digits separated by commas or a, l, p, d, where
    a = ACSID
    l = LSM (Library Storage Module)
    p = Panel Number
    d = Drive ID

To display valid ACS drive identifications, issue the following command from the ACSSA (Automatic Cartridge System System Administrator)console on the ACSLS server host.

display drive * -f serial_num

The command will display results similar to the following:
    2007-01-27 13:57:01 Display Drive

    Acs Lsm Panel Drive Serial_num

    0 0 2 0 CX803S1909

    0 0 2 1 CX803S1939

    0 0 2 2 CX803S1959

    0 0 2 3 CX803S1979

Currently, Tivoli Storage Manager Server supports up to 20 drives per panel.

ACS Drive ID is used in the Define/Update Drive command. It is required for ACSLS libraries.

Device Name is used in the Define Path command.

DEFine DRive library_name drive_name ACSDRVID=drive_id

DEFine PATH source_name destination_name SRCType=SERVer DESTType=DRive LIBRary=library_name DEVIce=device_name
    Example
