    TECWINAdapter goes down with Drwatson error when FQDomain=YES is
    set

    This problem was not recreated in the lab.
    - Observation:
    1. In ipconfig output there is no domain name specified
        Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . :
        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
    2. In DNS - windows hostname was specified as Aliases
    and not as actual hostname.
    3. In tecad_win.conf FQDomain=YES is set
    4. In format file all slots hostname, origin, fqhostname
    are defined as DEFAULT
    5. nslookup returns correct result when queried using
    alias hostname.
    L3 supplied debug binary and collected crashdump file.
    L3 was able to fix the problem based on crash and
    further debug outputs received from customer site.
    

Local fix

  • specify domain name and it should appear in ipconfig
    (e.g specifying domain in Primary Dns Suffix)
    

Problem summary

    * hostname is configured such that it does not match the dns

    Additional checking needed to be added to handle these
    misconfigurations.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Split the function calls out of the method calls to add checks
    for bad values being returned due to misconfigurations.

Temporary fix

  • Comment out FQDomain and cycle the adapter, or configure the
    correct domain name, and or make certain that the hostname
    matches the hostname (up to the first dot) as returned by
    nslookup.
