Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: DB2 V8 users that exploit CP query * * parallelism while in remote stored * * procedures and UDFs. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Independent enclaves for DB2 CP query * * parallel tasks in remote stored * * procedures and UDFs are unexpectedly * * classified under the WLM subsytem type * * DB2, which may result in unexpected * * priorities for said tasks. * * * * To get around this problem, users of * * CP query parallelism had to define * * classification rules for the WLM * * subsystem type DB2, which is normally * * used for sysplex query parallelism. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** While creating independent enclaves for DB2 query parallelism in remote stored procedures and UDFs, DB2 classified them according to the WLM subsystem type DB2 classification rules. This could result in unexpected priorities for the independent enclaves if the users did not have the classification rules defined for the WLM subsystem type DB2. Additionally, separate independent enclaves are resource- managed as independent transactions.
Problem conclusion
DB2 has been enhanced to use work-dependent enclaves while creating parallel tasks in a stored procedure or UDF. Work-dependent enclaves will be considered a part of the underlying enclave's transaction. For more information regarding work-dependent enclaves, please refer to the closing text of z/OS APAR OA26104.
