Error description
Running updateZOSStartArgs.py adds REUSASID=YES to the start command args for each server. REUSASID=YES is added to each servant, control, and adjunct region for each server. To avoid possible conflicts with other products this parameter should only be added to the control region.
Local fix
After running updateZOSStartArgs.py manually delete REUSASID=YES from the start command args. This can be done in the admin console: Application servers > server_name > Java and Process Management > Process definition > Servant Application servers > server_name > Java and Process Management > Process definition > Adjunct
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server for z/OS V7.0 * * * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After running the script * * updateZOSStartArgs.py, you could * * experience issues interacting with * * other products. * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The script updateZOSStartArgs.py adds the parameter REUSASID=YES to all the process definitions for a server which includes Control, Servant, and Adjunct. To avoid possible conflicts with other products, this parameter should only be added to the Control region of the server. There might be a failure such as: When REUSASID=YES defined for a servant, problems were encountered if using a DB2 type 2 driver. Server with type 4 driver doesn't have that problem. DSRA8040I: Failed to connect to the DataSource. Encountered java.sql.SQLException: initRRSAFAttach:2786: Abend occurred in RRSAF ERRORCODE=-4499, SQLSTATE=nullDSRA0010E: SQL State = null, Error Code = -4,499
Problem conclusion
The script was modified to only apply the parameter to the server's Control Region. A Warning message is also issued to warn users of possible problems interacting with other products. To take advantage of the script change, run the script with the -remove option for servers affected. Then run the script again (without -remove option) to apply the REUSASID parameter only to Control region.
