Error description

  • The following exception was seen in the FFDC logs from the
servant after developing and attempting to run a
    TrustAssociationInterceptor for the server.

    java.lang.NullPointerException at
    at com.ibm.ws.security.web.WebAuthenticator.authenticate
    (WebAuthenticator.java:1383)
    at com.ibm.ws.security.web.WebCollaborator.authorize
    (WebCollaborator.java:628)
    at com.ibm.ws.security.web.EJSWebCollaborator.preInvoke
    (EJSWebCollaborator.java:318)
    .
    .

In this case the customer was using their own TAI class. The
problem is that WebSphere is assuming that the
variable redirectURL is set in the application's attribute,
however it is null. This apar corrects the problem.

During TAI authentication, null pointer exception is
thrown if redirect URL is not defined for the application that
    user is logging on to.

Problem conclusion

  • Code is updated to check redirect URL for the application. If
it is not configured, skip operations regarding redirect URL.
