Error description

  • WebSphere Application Server ran into infinite recursive calls
    of com/ibm/ws/cache/Cache.getFreeLruEntry. The infinte recursive
    call caused Java stack overflow and ABEND0C4.

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A stack overflow exception occurs       *
    *                      when the object cache is full and       *
    *                      objects are being evicted.              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Cache entries are removed from the object cache using a least
    recently used (LRU) algorithm when the object cache has reached
    the maximum cache size.  If removing an object from the cache
    fails an infinite recursive loop can occur trying to remove
    the object.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The LRU algorthim has been modified to recognize that a remove
    has failed and the next LRU object is then removed.
    
    APAR PM07060 is currently targeted for inclusion in
    Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.11 of WebSphere
    Application Server V7.0.
