Error description
z/OS WebSphere V7.x problem with profile creation time the wrong hostname is used in serverindex.xml. . The customer was getting the following error message. . BBOM0057W DEFAULT VALUE OF ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE protocol_iiop_listenIPAddress USED. LENGTH MUST NOT EXCEED 15 CHARACTERS. . The customer response files was correct, but the protocol_iiop_listenIPAddress should had been using * and not an invalid hostname.
Local fix
The users can modify the values in serverindex, and then run wsc2n.sh from was_home/bin (this will regenerate the was.env).
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect host value substituted into * * serverindex.xml when creating a * * management profile, which can result * * in the following warning messsage * * during server startup: * * * * BBOM0057W DEFAULT VALUE OF * * ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE * * protocol_iiop_listenIPAddress USED. * * LENGTH MUST NOT EXCEED 15 CHARACTERS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The zPMT Port Values Assignment panel contains three host fields: Node host name, ORB Listener IP address, and HTTP Transport IP address. When creating a management profile, the values specified in the ORB Listener IP address and HTTP Transport IP address fields do not get substituted into the serverindex.xml file. Instead, the value used for the Node host name is used throughout. This can result in the warning message: BBOM0057W DEFAULT VALUE OF ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE protocol_iiop_listenIPAddress USED. LENGTH MUST NOT EXCEED 15 CHARACTERS. if that host name exceeds 15 characters, as the underlying code is expecting either * or a numeric IP address.
Problem conclusion
The management profile template will be updated so that the appropriate hosts values are substituted into the correct locations in the serverindex.xml file. APAR PK81645 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.4 of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS.
