When customer is running Compute Grid on WebSphere Application
Server version 7 on z/OS, they are seeing a
NullPointerException in ServantFileRepository.addListener().

When a customer is running Compute Grid on WebSphere
Application Server Version 7.0 on z/OS, they are seeing a
NullPointerException in ServantFileRepository.addListener().

The caller is trying to add a listener before the repository is
initialized. At this point, the listener variable is not
initialized, so it will be "null" instead of an empty
ArrayList. When we try to append the ArrayList during
addListener(), we are getting a NullPointerException.

Problem conclusion

Source code has been modified to initialize the listener even
before the repository is initialized. This will avoid the
NullPointerException during addListener(), because the variable
is already initialized with an empty ArrayList.

APAR PK76558 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.3 of WebSphere
Application Server.
