Error description

When the protocol_bboc_log_response_failure code was written
for the channel framework in V6.1, it was written so that if a
send returned "0", we would interpret that as an error and log
the failure.
However, when async send support was added in V7.  With async
sends, a return code of 0 does not indicate an error; it
indicates that the send went async and that we will be notified
of the success or failure later on via a callback.  A
*negative* return code indicates an error, not a 0.

WebSphere Application Server for z/OS will issues warning
message BBOO0168W for potentially successful asynchronous
responses.

Problem conclusion

Asynchronous responses are now handled appropriately, and the
BBOO0168W warning messages will only be issued for failed
responses.

APAR PI09368 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
7.0.0.33, 8.0.0.10, and 8.5.5.3 of WebSphere Application
Server.
