Problem
This technote states that "Plans" in IBM Rational Team Concert cannot contain more than 2048 items.
Symptom
Opening such a plan results in a stack trace shown in the plan editors planned items page:
An internal error occurred during operation: "Retrieving Data".
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Auditable State Handle array cannot exceed 2048 elements.
Cause
The agile planning component tries to simultaneously resolve all items that are part of the plan.
However, the repository does not allow simultaneous to resolution of more than 2048 items.
Environment
The problem is independent of any environment.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this problem, it is necessary to create a plan that contains fewer than 2049 items. This means that some of the work items must be removed from the plan.
To do so, either plan some work items for another iteration (create a new iteration if required) or assign work items to other teams:
- Create a new work item query that returns all work items planned for the plan's iteration and assigned to the plan's team.
- In the result view, select an appropriate number of work items.
- Right-click in the 'Planned For' column and select 'Change Planned For.
- Select another iteration.
- Press OK.
Similar steps can be used to bulk change the assigned team for a set of work items.
