Problem
This technote explains how to resolve an IBM Rational Team Concert repository migration issue, where Work Item change notification e-mails are resent.
Symptom
After migration of the server's repository database, new notification e-mails are received for the work items of the last 15 days.
- The repository was migrated, and now users are receiving notification e-mails for each modification that occurred in the past 15 days.
- The work items have been modified by the ADMIN userid.
Here is an example of the change received:
ADMIN <ADMIN> changed on May 27, 2009 at 7:32:02 PM GMT+00:00:
<followed by the change>
Cause
During post-import of a migration, the modified time of the Change event is updated.
As a result, the modified date and modifier is updated and queries relying on the modified date will handle these as new events to process.
The impact is that all change-events of a certain period (such as 15 days) will be processed again after importing, resulting in E-Mail spam for work item changes and news spam for all feeds that rely on change-events.

Resolving The Problem
AFTER MIGRATION
There is no workaround.
The emails do not impact the server.
This behavior occurs only once right after migration.
The behavior will be fixed in future releases.
BEFORE MIGRATION
If the migration has not yet been executed, use the following workaround to avoid the email spam.
- Disable the E-Mail notification from Administration Configuration
- Run the migration
- Start the Server
- Log into the Web UI as Admin
- Wait for 10 minutes. You should see the following warning in the log appearing then:
CRRTC0240W: E-mail notification is disabled, see the Server Setup Guide for details on enabling it. - Enable E-Mail notification again from the Administration Configuration
This should skip all change-events from getting sent as E-Mail from the migration because as soon as the notification is turned on, only changes that occur after then will be considered.
