This document contains Linux® x86-64 system requirements for IBM® WebSphere® Virtual Enterprise Version 7.0.

This document describes the minimum product levels that need to be installed before opening a problem report with the WebSphere Virtual Enterprise Support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, testing every configuration is not possible. In general, you can install and run with updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible. For additional information about available support for configurations that are not included in the following list, refer to support article, WebSphere Application Server has grown and so have your requirements.


Operating Systems
supported with 64-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 4 with Update 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 5 with Update 1
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 6 (See Required Detail 1)
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Version 9 with SP4
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Version 10 with Update 1
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Version 11 (See Required Detail 1)
Hardware Requirements
64-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise
  • Intel EM64T or AMD Opteron (64-bit kernel support only)
  • Minimum 1 GB of available disk space
  • Minimum 1 GB recommended
  • DVD-ROM drive
Software Requirements
To run the WebSphere Virtual Enterprise controller, your system must contain WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Version 7.0.0.17 or later.
    The WebSphere Virtual Enterprise node is supported in WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environments and other middleware server environments.

    • IBM License Metric Tool (LMT) Version 7.2
    • IBM DB2® Version 9.1
    • IBM Derby SDK Version 10.3
