IC70242: AMP/SOMA SETFIRMWARE REQUEST WITH LARGE IMAGE FAILED WITH NO ERROR LOGGED

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When trying to upgrade to 3.8.1.2 using AMP or SOMA SetFirmware
request, the
larger images failed and there is no error in the log.  The only
indication of
the failed operation was that nothing happened on the device
(not reboot and
not upgrade to the new firmware) after the AMP/SOMA request and
500 Internal
Server Error with verbose (-v) option on the curl command.

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • Large files sent to the appliance in SOMA and AMP operations can
exceed the XML parser limits and be rejected with no error
message.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The XML parser for the SOMA and AMP interface has had its limits
increased to a max-node-size of 139300000.  The new setting will
work with the largest firmware files that should ever be
encountered.
