Error description

  • IBM WebSphere DataPower Appliances

    Firmware: 3.8.0.3

    Symptom:
    Appliance reload because of out of memory when using AAA

    Steps to Recreate.

    Extracting resource & identity during the AAA action can leak
    memory if the extracted metadata is based on a service or
    context variable and was set using a node-set value.

Local fix

  • Ensure that the values of all variables used in a user-defined
    meta-data are cast to a string when set.
    For example:
    <xsl:set-variable name="var://local/my-variable"
    select="string($xpath-expression)"/>

Problem summary

  • Do not leak memory when using dp:get-metadata in AAA policy.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix will be in 3.7.3.11, 3.8.0.5, 3.8.1.0

Temporary fix
