IC61650: FAN SPEED REPORTED INCORRECTLY BY IBM WEBSPHERE DATAPOWER SOA APPLIANCE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliance.

Fan Speed is incorrectly reported on the 9235/9004 appliances by
the firmware.
-
Note: Always check the temperature LED to insure the appliance
is operating correctly, along with the output of these commands:

show sensors-fans
show sensors-temperature
show sensors-other
test hardware
--
This APAR reports the problem where fan 3 and fan 4 in tray 1
or 2 report the problem as follows:

Local fix

  • You can try the following to reduce the messages until the
firmware can be installed.
1. Reload the firmare
or
2. Safely power off an power on the appliance per the product
publications.

Problem summary

  • Periodicaly the CPU cooling fans would report zero RPM for a
complete bank of 4 fans.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix will be in 3.7.1.9, 3.7.2.5, 3.7.3.4 & 3.8.0.0
