APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Unable to remotely connect to the WTX Launcher Agent using an
IPv6 address. The Launcher Agent is binding to the IPv6
address (if present) which prevents using an IPv4 address when
    needed.

The problem typically occurs when using the WTX Launcher Agent
on a Windows 2008 or Windows 7 machine where an IPv6 address is
enabled but the network does not support routing for IPv6
    addresses.

Local fix

  • WTXCQ - WTX00043550
    GM / GM
    Circumvention: None

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender Event Agent customers that
only route IPv4-based addresses while operating on IPv6-enabled
    machines.

    Problem Description:
The Event Agent is unable to force communication over an IPV4
    network address.

    Platforms Affected:
    All

Problem conclusion

  • The Launcher Agent is able to operate purely in IPv4 mode.
Before this fix, if a network environment was only configured to
route IPv4 addresses, the Launcher Agent could not be reached
over the network, since it would successfully bind with the
local Window's ipv6 address before attempting to try and bind
with an ipv4 address. With this fix, the customer can set the
following environment variable to ensure that the Launcher Agent
defaults to binding to an IPv4 address:
    set WTX_LA_IPV4_ONLY=1
