PM86982: LARGE INPUT ITEM (500MB) FAILS TO BE PLACED INTO THE WMQ QUEUE WITH A WTX PUT() FUNCTION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A map with a PUT() rule to send an input message to a WMQ queue,
  which works with smaller messages (20MB) may fail with larger
  messages (500MB).
  
  No adapter trace is written to indicate the reason for the
  failure, and the map does not fail.
  

Local fix

• WTXCQ - WTX00042792

  Circumvention: Do not use string literals with large blobs of
  non-Unicode data, as this will trigger a couple of calls to the
  ICU character conversation routines, which fails due to a
  pointer variable with a 2GB limit.
  

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  WebSphere Transformation Extender who do huge (in GB)
  character-set conversions.
  
  Problem Description:
  Map completed successfully, but some large objects were missing
  from the output.
  
  Platforms Affected:
  All
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed so it will recognize the situations
  in which the large objects failed to be converted, and abort the
  map when that happens.
