Error description

  • When importing a type tree using the Database Interface Designer
from a DB2 instance hosted on z/OS, if the database is set to
ISO, then the item properties may be created with incorrect
delimiters for the TIME and TIMESTAMP columns.

The type tree item properties for a DB2 TIME column are created
as HH24:MM:SS with colon character ( : ) as the delimter but the
WTX engine receives the data from DB2 as HH24.MM.SS with a
dot or period character ( . ) as the delimiter.

The type tree item properties for a DB2 TIMESTAMP column are
    created as {CCYY-MM-DD}[ {HH24:MM[:SS[.6-6]]}] with a space
character as the delimter between the date and time and a colon
character ( : ) as the delimter for the time portion. The WTX
engine receives the data from DB2 for the TIMESTAMP as
    {CCYY-MM-DD}[-{HH24.MM[.SS[.6-6]]}] which uses a hyphen
character ( - ) as the delimter between the date and time and a
dot or period character ( . ) as the delimiter for the time
    portion.

Local fix

    PB / PB
Circumvention: Manually modify the type tree properties.

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender z/OS users that require type
tree generation with an "ISO" date&time format

    Problem Description:
The DB Interface Designer's type tree generator does not
automatically handle the z/OS "ISO" time and timestamp column
    format.

    Platforms Affected:
    Design Time - Windows
    Run Time - z/OS

Problem conclusion

  • The DB Interface Designer can import TIME and TIMESTAMP columns
from a z/OS DB2 DBMS with the "ISO" format. Before this fix,
only the z/OS "JIS" format was supported, which then required
customers with ISO-based z/OS configurations to perform manual
type tree overrides. By defining the following environment
    variable, set WTX_ADAPTER_DB2_DATETIME_FORMAT=ISO, the correct
WTX date&time stamp type tree will get automatically generated.
