    Circumvention: None

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender MIME adapter users

    Problem Description:
The MIME adapter does not successfully execute on UNIX platform.

    Platforms Affected:
    ALL

Problem conclusion

  • The WTX JNI layer loads any jar files that are located under the
    "<install path>\extjar" sub-directory on Windows and the
    "<install path>/libs/extjar" sub-directory on UNIX. Before this
fix, the "mail.jar" module would not get loaded and would
thereby prevent the successful execution of the MIME adapter.

The MIME adapter (as per the release notes) requires the use of
an external/optional java package, which implements the
"javax/mail" API interface. In 8.2 and 8.3, this functionality
is present in the mail.jar module. Due to compatibility issues
with JavaMail in JVM 1.6, the 8.3 release changed the location
of the mail.jar module to be under the "libs/extjar"
    sub-directory location.
