APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using an earlier version of the Design Tools, it was possible to
inadvertently create a pad entry greater than the allowed 1
character. (This is not possible in the current versions of the
    GUI).

The 'bad' type tree entry, when compiled into a map and
executed, may cause the core engine to crash.

Local fix

  • WTXCQ - WTX00035648
    PB / PB
Circumvention: Modify type trees so that Pad values are not
    greater than 1 character.

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender customers using 64 bits
    runtime version

    Problem Description:
The 64 bit version of WTX product terminates due to SIGSEGV with
    the following stack trace:
    call_user_handler (ffffffff7bc02000, ffffffff7bc02000, fffffff
    f7fffbb90, c, 0, 0) + 3e0
    CheckItemRepresentation (10040e440, 100407a78, ffffff28, b, 2,
     1) + ef4
     ValidateInput (10040e440, 0, 1, 100407a78, 100419eb0, 0) + 57a

    ValidateInput (10040e440, 0, 70c0a06, 100407970, 100419eb0, 10

    Timing_ValidateAnInputCard (10043c2b0, 5, 1, 100419eb0, 108, 0
    ) + 294
    RunInstance (10040e440, 0, 0, 2400, 0, 100412440) + fac

This happens if the length of the pad chars is more than that
    actual type size.

    Delivered in:
    8.2.0.6, 8.3.0.4

Problem conclusion

  • Platforms Affected:
    1 AIX (64BITS)
    2 HPUX(Itanium) (64 BITS)
    3 HPUX(risc) (64BITS)
    4 LINUX (64 BITS)
    5 Solaris (64BITS)
    6 zLinux (64 BITS)

    Problem Conclusion:
Fixed a problem in the core engine to detect situation when the
pad length is more than the actual type.

    Delivered in:
    8.2.0.6, 8.3.0.3
