Error description

  • The RIGHT() function does not return the expected two byte
    Japanese characters and instead one byte characters are
    returned.

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
    Websphere Transformation Extender clients who use modal
    character sets
    
    Problem Description:
    Right function not returning expected 2 byte Japanese characters
    
    Platforms Affected:
    All
    

Problem conclusion

  • Several issues, but the biggest change was to the ICU "chopper",
    which now returns a count of shift characters.  The Left, Mid,
    and Right functions should all work properly now.

    8.1.0.6, 8.2.0.6, 8.3.0.3
