Product Documentation

Abstract

This page describes the minimum software system requirements to operate IBM® Content Integrator.

Important:
Other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases. Not every configuration is tested. Ensure that you have the correct version of supported products. In general, you can install fixes and updates to current software on your system if those updates are forward compatible.

Disk space

The following table shows the minimum recommended disk space for a typical installation in megabytes (MB). The actual space required can vary depending on the file system that you use and the components that you install. The numbers below are for reference only.

Note: The disk space required for IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition depends on the components selected. The disk space requirements that are provided for IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition do not include the disk space that is required for hosting a J2EE application server. Refer to the documentation of the J2EE application server for detailed disk space requirements. The API and administrative tools for IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition cannot be installed separately. Therefore, they require the same disk space as IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition.

Memory

The following table shows the minimum recommended memory for a typical installation in megabytes (MB). The actual requirement depends on the applications the customer intends to run. Additional memory might be required to handle heavy workloads and large numbers of users. The numbers below are for reference only.

Notes:

The memory requirements that are provided for IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition include the memory that is typically required for hosting a J2EE application server. Refer to the documentation of the J2EE application server for detailed memory requirements. In addition, the installation process for IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition requires 128 MB of memory.

The amount of memory required for the IBM Content Integrator API depends on the operating system, the client run time of the J2EE application server, and the applications that are running. In most cases, it should be sufficient to use the minimum memory requirements of the operating system as the minimum requirement for running the IBM Content Integrator API clients. Graphical tools that are part of the administration tool will require an additional 128 MB.

Required levels of Java and application servers

The content integration server will run on any 1.5 compatible JVM, but is supported only on certain platforms. Specific connectors often require access to native libraries and are limited to certain platforms where those native libraries are available.

IBM Content Integrator only requires a servlet container for some of its components. We support the servlet container embedded in the following application servers:
