Error description

  • Error DescriptionÏ
InfoCenter MQ documentation incorrectly states the
    BookShelf: WebSphere MQ
Topic : Script (MQSC) Command Reference
    Sub-Topic: The MQSC commands
    Sub-Topic: ALTER QMGR
    Sub-Topic: Parameter descriptions
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/topic/com.ib
    m.mq.csqzaj.doc/sc10620_.htm

Incorrectly states the RCVTIME and RCVTMIN applies only to
message channels (and not to MQI channels), Now, for channels
with SHARECNV=0 RCVTIME/RCVTMIN will still not apply, as
was the case prior to V7. But, RCVTIME/RCVTMIN do now apply to
MQI channels running with SHARECNV > 0.

The description of ReceiveTimeout (RCVTIME) incorrectly states
that it does not apply to MQI channels.

Problem conclusion

  • The documentation for MQ is updated to indicate that the receive
timeout parameter now applies to V7 MQI channels as follows:

    WebSphere MQ
     - Script(MQSC) Command Reference
        - The MQSC commands
         - ALTER QMGR
          - Parameter descriptions (sc10620_)

The description of 'RCVTIME(integer)' is changed:
"This parameter applies only to message channels (and not to MQI
     channels)"
    is replaced with
"This parameter applies only to message channels, and MQI
     channels that use sharing conversations"

    A new sentence is added:
"For MQI channels that use sharing conversations the heartbeat
interval used by RCVTIME/RCVTMIN/RCVTTYPE is 5 seconds greater
     than the negotiated heartbeat interval".

    WebSphere MQ Explorer
     - Reference
      - Properties (e_properties_qmanager)

The description of 'Receive timeout' is changed:
"This attribute applies only to message channels, and not MQI
     channels"
    is replaced with
"This attribute applies only to message channels, and MQI
     channels that use sharing conversations"

The description of 'Receive timeout type' has a new sentence
    added:
"For MQI channels that use sharing conversations the heartbeat
interval used for the calculation is 5 seconds greater than
     the negotiated heartbeat interval".

    WebSphere MQ
     - Programmable Command Formats and Administration Interface
      - Programmable Command Formats
       - Definitions of PCFs
        - Change Queue Manager
         - Optional parameters (Change Queue Manager) (pc11230_)

The description of ReceiveTimeout(MQCFIN) is changed:
"This parameter applies to z/OS only and only to message
channels (and not to MQI channels)"
    is replaced with
"This parameter applies to z/OS only and only to message
channels, and MQI channels that use sharing conversations"

    A new sentence is added:
"For MQI channels that use sharing conversations the heartbeat
interval used by ReceiveTimeout / ReceiveTimeoutMin /
ReceiveTimeoutType is 5 seconds greater than the negotiated
     heartbeat interval".
