APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using the WebSphere MQ v7.0.1 JMSAdmin Tool, the hostname
property is incorrectly set to localhost despite specifying the
hostname on the alter QCF verb.

Local fix

  • Use CONNECTIONNAMELIST in the QCF to specify the hostname.
Setting one entry in the CONNECTIONNAMELIST will set the
    hostname and the port automatically.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ classes for Java
Message Service(JMS) Administration tool called JMSAdmin in
version 7.0.1.4 and above who attempt to set the hostname value.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem was due to the JMSAdmin tool trying to sync the
connection name list option with the hostname and port property.
During this operation, although the hostname and port were set
by the user, the JMS Admin overwrote it with the first entry of
    the connection name list values.

This defect was introduced by APAR IC68871 which was first
    included in WebSphere MQ v7.0.1.4.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix ensures that the JMSAdmin tool sets the hostname and
port values as given by the user and also keeps it in sync with
the first entry in the connection name list.
