Error description

  • Applications fail during register subscriber operations with
    errors 3155 (MQRCCF_SUBSCRIPTION_IN_USE) and 3156
    (MQRCCF_SUBSCRIPTION_LOCKED). Additional symptoms include
failures to restart the broker, with accompanying FDCs
(PU294005 and PU294010). Once the broker fails to restart, no
publish-subscribe activity is possible. A typical FDC might
    look as follows:

    Probe Id :- PU294005
    Component :- fkiRestoreSubscription
    Program Name :- amqfcxba
    Major Errorcode :- frcE_UNEXPECTED_ERROR
    MQM Function Stack
    fpiTaskReply
    faxRunStream
    fkxStartStream
    fkiRestoreRegistrations
    fkiProcessChangeRecord
    fkiReplayRegistrationRecord
    fkiRestoreSubscription
    xcsFFST

Queue manager or broker restart does not resolve this issue.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Any users of WebSphere MQ issuing deregister subscriber commands
with MQREGO_LEAVE_ONLY specified. An example would be a WAS
    pubsub application.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem was caused by WebSphere MQ writing multiple change
records to the broker persistent state queue for one
subscription if a deregister subscriber with MQREGO_LEAVE_ONLY
was issued. Depending on the subsequent sequence of events,
this could then lead to applications being returned 3155/3156
errors during a register subscriber operation. This could also
lead to failures to restart the broker as a result of duplicate
    subscriptions being present.

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ was modified to ensure that multiple change
records for the same subscription are not persisted to the
    broker state queues.
